'I think the whole wedding thing has got out of hand! It feels like the most important thing these days is giving all of your guests Bon bons and vintage tea cups'
'talk to your mum or people of that generation. For them it wasn't all this fan fare it was intimate and small often at someone's home with a few guests. The focus was on the union and the coming together of families.'

'I felt for me, that getting married was quite a personal thing - I didn't want to feel like public property or the contestant of miss bride 2013. I guess I have become quite protective of what marriage means to me which is between 2 people not 200 people half of who you only see once a year!'
'Plus expense was a big factor to me- I didn't want one day to put a huge financial strain on my parents.'

ReplyDeleteSo true Kitty... one of my all-time favourite weddings was for a couple who traveled down to Melbs from Canberra, met up with their two best friends... and the five of us enjoyed an intimate ceremony over a bottle of champagne. It was beautiful, meaningful and so perfect for this couple!! ~ Tracey
